HOME What We Do Energy - Infrastructure
As a leader of the energy industry, we are building a full value chain of LNG business from gas field development to production, trading, transportation, terminal storage and combined cycle power generation.
Upstream
We engage in resource exploration and production (E&P) in Korea and beyond, including our gas field operations in Myanmar, Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Shwe Project
Spearheading the largest overseas E&P project ever undertaken by a private Korean company
The Shwe Project in Myanmar took us a full 13 years to initiate gas production in June 2013, and marks the largest overseas E&P project ever undertaken by a private Korean company.
Senex Energy in Australia
Taking the first step towards the reliable expansion of gas field operations and the pursuit of energy transition
POSCO INTERNATIONAL acquired Senex Energy, a power company in Eastern Australia, in conjunction with Hancock Energy of Australia in 2022, and has since been operating three gas fields in Queensland, Australia, as a major shareholder with 50.1% ownership.
Malaysia & Indonesia
Creating yet another success story in the gas field business by establishing strategic partnerships with local state-owned enterprises
Exploration is on-going for Block PM524 and the Bunga block in partnership with Petronas of Malaysia and PHE of Indonesia respectively.
Midstream
As Korea’s first LNG trader, we are tapping into the bunkering business while developing overseas projects and operating LNG terminals.
Gwangyang LNG Terminal
Serving as a key asset for POSCO Group’s LNG value chain
POSCO INTERNATIONAL’s Gwangyang LNG Terminal, as Korea’s first private LNG import terminal, engages in the handling of LNG imported into the domestic market from discharging to storage, regasification and send-out.
LNG Trading
Contributing to the nation’s stable energy supply by operating LNG carriers and ensuring reliable LNG procurement
POSCO INTERNATIONAL initiated the LNG trading business back in 2017 on the back of its track record in developing overseas energy resources, its specialized trading capabilities, and the Group’s captive demand. Leveraging its position as the nation’s first company licensed to supply natural gas as vessel fuel and engage in natural gas trading, POSCO INTERNATIONAL is expanding its midstream business territory.
Downstream
Harnessing the robust global network POSCO INTERNATIONAL has established as an IPP (Independent Power Producer), we aim to continuously create new business opportunities for strategic power sources. This includes opportunities at our combined cycle power plants, as well as in emerging Asian countries, Central and Latin America, Africa and other regions with high growth potential.
LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant in Incheon
Contributing to the nation’s energy security through prompt response to variations in power demand
As Korea’s first private power generator, we have ensured the reliability of power supply in the Seoul metropolitan region for the past 50 years by operating the LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant in Incheon.
POSCO Group’s Energy Projects and Businesses
We will strengthen the profitability of our LNG business and expand our eco-friendly energy business.
Growing Presence across the Entire LNG Value Chain
Promote expansion of hydrogen hybrid power generation and renewable energy projects
