Transition to a Fully Private Enterprise
With the double engine of growth up and running in Pohang and Gwangyang, we were ready to turn a chapter with a new POSCO identity.

POSCO listed on the New York Stock Exchange owing to its robust credit ratings, and introduced outside director and external audit system to enhance governance and transparency.
After repaying concessional loans received from Japan to compensate for wartime forced labor and liquidating government-owned shares, POSCO became a private company.
